Butterfly Activity

I drew a butterfly that reflects who I am and how I see myself growing through this Social Science elective. Just like a butterfly goes through different stages before it can fly, I believe I’m also in a stage of transformation—adjusting to college, learning new things, and discovering more about myself. Each part of my drawing represents parts of my personality, values, and experiences. Some parts may be colorful, showing my strengths and passions, while others may be simpler or darker, symbolizing the challenges I’ve faced. But altogether, they form a complete picture of who I am—and who I’m becoming. This activity reminded me that growth takes time, and every experience, good or bad, helps shape us.
Group Work 1: Infographic

Creating and learning from this infographic reminded me how important it is to take care of both our minds and our time. As a college student, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with deadlines and responsibilities, and sometimes I find myself putting things off, which only adds to my stress.Through this activity, I realized that small habits—like getting enough sleep, eating well, and taking short breaks—can make a big difference in how I feel and how productive I am. I also learned that breaking big tasks into smaller steps can help me beat procrastination and feel more in control.
Module 2: Self-Regulation and Habit Formation

I realized how much this activity helped me become more aware of my daily routines and how they affect my overall well-being. By recording my habits, I noticed patterns—like not drinking enough water on busy days or sleeping less. This made me reflect on how small actions, when done consistently, shape my lifestyle and even my mindset. The activity taught me the value of self-awareness and discipline. Forming healthy habits isn’t just about making big changes overnight—it’s about being consistent, even in the little things.
Group Work 2: Creating Reviewers

It’s not just about summarizing notes—it's about understanding the lessons deeply enough to explain them clearly. As I organized key points from each topic, I found myself remembering and connecting ideas better than just reading or highlighting. This process also helped me manage my time and reduce stress. Instead of cramming, I had personalized materials I could go back to anytime. It made reviewing feel less overwhelming and more productive.
Module 5 Formative Activity: Circle of Viewpoints

In this activity, I was asked to share my viewpoint on whether students should be required to attend extracurricular activities that do not affect their grades. I expressed my disagreement with this idea because I believe that students should have the freedom to manage their own time and responsibilities.Through this reflection, I realized that while extracurriculars can be valuable, forcing students to attend them—especially when they don’t impact academic performance—can create added pressure. Many students are already balancing heavy workloads, personal struggles, or even part-time jobs. Requiring attendance could lead to stress rather than growth.
Group Work 3: Modeling a Life-long Learner

For our activity on modeling a lifelong learner, we chose to interview my sister. We chose her because I know her very well, and I’ve seen firsthand how she continues to grow, learn, and adapt—both personally and professionally.Through the interview, I gained a deeper appreciation for her mindset. Even though I already knew much about her, hearing her talk about her learning experiences, challenges, and goals helped me see her in a new light. She shared how she keeps learning through reading, taking online courses, and even learning from mistakes and everyday situations.
Module 8: Portfolio of Well-Being

Creating our advocacy video titled “It’s Not Too Late: Choose Progress, Choose You” was a powerful and inspiring experience. Through this activity, we aimed to send a message of hope and encouragement—to remind people that no matter where they are in life, there’s always time to grow, to improve, and to choose themselves.Working on the video helped me reflect on the importance of progress over perfection. Many people, including myself, sometimes feel stuck or behind in life. But this project reminded me that moving forward—even in small steps—is still progress.

Reflection
Throughout this course, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that have helped me grow not only as a student but also as an individual. From creating reviewers to engaging in group projects, each activity challenged me to reflect on myself, my choices, and my learning process.Among all the activities, my favorite was the Portfolio of Well-Being. Drawing a place where I feel most comfortable and having my classmates write messages of encouragement and support truly touched me. It was a reminder of the importance of having a safe space and being surrounded by a community that uplifts one another. This activity not only helped me recognize the value of well-being but also made me appreciate the power of kindness and positivity. I’ll carry these messages with me as motivation to continue nurturing my mental health and striving for balance in my life.As I look back on my experience with this course, I also realize how much I’ve learned about self-regulation, goal-setting, and overcoming challenges, especially through activities like tracking habits, creating advocacy videos, and engaging in deep self-reflection. Each of these experiences has made me more aware of the importance of self-awareness, progress, and personal growth. To my instructor, thank you for providing us with these enriching activities. They not only expanded my knowledge but also encouraged me to connect with myself and my peers on a deeper level. Your guidance and support have been invaluable, and I feel more equipped to navigate both academic and personal challenges moving forward. To future students, my advice is to embrace the activities and challenges that come your way. It’s easy to get caught up in grades and assignments, but the true value of this course lies in the personal growth and reflections you gain along the journey. Take time to reflect on each experience and use it to shape your goals and well-being. Most importantly, be kind to yourself and remember—it’s not too late to grow and learn. Choose progress, choose you.
